Choosing a Safe Gas Appliance
Gas appliances should be installed by a registered gasfitter and have a safety compliance label. You can check that a gas appliance is registered as safe to install in New Zealand by:
- looking for the gas safety compliance label on the appliance or its packaging
- searching the Gas Appliance Supplier Declaration database to check the make and model has a supplier declaration of compliance.
Second-hand Gas Appliances
Avoid buying second-hand gas appliances, unless they’ve been checked by a licensed gasfitter or gas appliance service technician.
